I was more interested in seeing how the dilution of the oxide would come out after firing. There is nothing like trial by error 😉

These were the last things which I made in my country studio (it has no heating) but I think in a couple of weeks I’ll be able to get back in there. Fingers crossed all the bags of clay made it through the freezing winter! And if not, I’ll be in great shape for summer with all that wedging! 💪

This cup was a flea market find from many years ag This cup was a flea market find from many years ago and a favourite for my my morning coffee. It eventually got a massive chip on the lip (along with some general wear and tear) and since I couldn’t throw it away, it made its way to the windowsill with a cactus. But since I have been attending a online Kintsugi/ Gintsugi workshop with the fabulous @kintsugi_berlin, this became my little project. It’s repaired with the traditional Japanese method of using Urushi and finished with silver (because it’s the first project and gold is expensive! 😉) I’m really looking forward to exploring more Kintsugi, trying my hardest to resist the urge to break things so I have a chance to repair them and recommend connecting with @kintsugi_berlin if you are interested in learning authentic Kintsugi (or simply looking at her beautiful work!). And naturally I’m stoked that this cup has a second life! #kintsugi #urushi #alessi

I reckon it would look much nicer with food on it!
I love doing a mix of wheel thrown and hand built I love doing a mix of wheel thrown and hand built work, but I tend to do the majority of my hand building in the warmer months in my countryside studio.
