Description: ‘What good is freedom to those who don’t use it?’ investigates the embodiment of liberty in the 21st century through the lens of American iconic dancer, activist and revolutionary figure – Isadora Duncan. By inscribing Duncan’s values, conventions and ideologies, Chris Scherer attempts to reinterpret her work for a contemporary context, forming a conversation between past and present. Duncan’s artistic and political parameters provide a sense of portraiture that sits within Scherers new linguistic frame, which he created in rural Germany throughout a time of isolation and social distance during Covid-19 2020.
